Mahatma Gandhi is quoted as saying, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world”. What a wise saying on so many levels. So, if you want to start a business, then work on starting one. Develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Learn about business. Study the methods people have used to become successful. Develop the mental skills and discipline to follow through on your goals and vision. Be the change you wish to see in the world. Become a source of inspiration for others and help others to learn to do the same. These methods and skills are learnable and teachable, other people have learned them, applied them, and lived their vision and passion. They are not more special, talented or better than you or I. What sets people apart is learning to be disciplined and to pursue goals, and being willing to keep going when you face obstacles.
At various points in my life I’ve struggled with being lazy, but as I’ve clarified my vision, values, purpose and goals, laziness has disappeared, to be replaced by determination, passion, and joy. This is not unique to me. This same process of discovery, realization, and action occurs when you set out to find and live your passion. So, what are the things you are passionate about? Spend some time thinking about them. What would it be like to do more of those things? Let go of the inner voice that says no, you can’t make a living at it, that you shouldn’t take risks. For now, just imagine what life would be like as you are filled with passion. Maybe you’re not sure what you’re passionate about. That happens sometimes. Then start smaller, what did you use to enjoy and go from there. You can absolutely be the change you wish to be in the world. Why wait. What is one small action you can take that will bring you one step closer to this goal? Watch the short video below:
